Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Sankri

The journey begins with arrival at Sankri village, a beautiful mountain village that serves as the base camp for the Kedarkantha Trek.

Trekkers meet the trekking team, complete preparations, and attend a briefing about the trek. The rest of the day is spent acclimatizing and exploring the surroundings.

Altitude: 6,400 ft

Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab

The trek begins with a gradual ascent through dense pine and oak forests. The trail winds through beautiful landscapes filled with towering trees and scenic clearings.

Trekkers reach Juda Ka Talab, a picturesque high-altitude lake surrounded by forests and snow-covered terrain during winter.

Trek Distance: 4 km
Trek Duration: 4–5 hours

Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

The trek continues through snowy forest trails and open meadows as trekkers gradually gain altitude.

The trail offers stunning views of surrounding Himalayan peaks before reaching Kedarkantha Base Camp, a scenic campsite located just below the summit.

Trek Distance: 4 km

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Summit – Return to Hargaon

This is the most exciting day of the trek. Trekkers begin an early morning climb toward the Kedarkantha Summit.

Upon reaching the summit, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak.

After enjoying the summit views, the team descends toward Hargaon campsite.

Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri

The final day involves a descent through beautiful forests and scenic mountain trails back to Sankri village, marking the end of the Kedarkantha Trek.

Trekkers enjoy the final views of the surrounding valleys before completing the journey.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to undertake the Kedarkantha Trek is between December to April, when the region is covered with snow and offers a classic winter trekking experience.

Trekkers can also visit between April to June for pleasant weather and clear mountain views.

Kedarkantha Trek is suitable for beginners with good fitness levels as well as experienced trekkers. The easy to moderate difficulty level makes it an excellent choice for those attempting their first Himalayan summit trek.
