Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Gangotri

The journey begins with arrival at Gangotri, one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in the Himalayas. Trekkers meet the team, complete preparations, and attend a briefing about the trek.

The rest of the day is spent exploring the temple town and acclimatizing to the mountain environment.

Altitude: 10,200 ft

Day 2: Gangotri to Chirbasa

The trek begins with a gradual walk along the Bhagirathi River through scenic mountain trails and forested landscapes. The route offers beautiful views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Day 3: Chirbasa to Bhojbasa

The trail continues along the river valley and gradually opens into wide mountain landscapes. As trekkers approach Bhojbasa, the surrounding peaks become more prominent and dramatic.

The campsite offers stunning views of Bhagirathi peaks and the surrounding glaciers.

Day 4: Bhojbasa to Gaumukh – Trek to Tapovan

This is one of the most exciting days of the trek. Trekkers first reach Gaumukh Glacier, the origin of the River Ganga.

From Gaumukh, the trail climbs steeply toward Tapovan, a high-altitude meadow known for its breathtaking views of Mount Shivling.

Day 5: Exploration of Tapovan

Trekkers spend the day exploring the beautiful Tapovan meadow, enjoying panoramic views of surrounding peaks including Shivling and Meru.

The peaceful environment and stunning landscapes make this one of the most memorable days of the trek.

Day 6: Tapovan to Bhojbasa

After enjoying the spectacular views of Tapovan, the group begins the descent back toward Bhojbasa campsite through the same scenic glacial trail.

Day 7: Bhojbasa to Gangotri

The final trekking day leads the group back toward Gangotri, marking the completion of the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to undertake the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is between May to June and September to October, when the weather remains stable and trekking conditions are favorable.

During these months, trekkers can enjoy clear skies, pleasant weather, and spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
