Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Badrinath

The journey begins with arrival at Badrinath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in the Himalayas. Trekkers meet the expedition team, complete preparations, and attend a briefing about the trek.

The rest of the day is spent acclimatizing to the high-altitude environment while enjoying views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Altitude: 10,200 ft

Day 2: Badrinath to Lakshmi Van

The trek begins with a gradual ascent along the scenic trail leading toward Lakshmi Van. The path passes through rocky mountain terrain and offers beautiful views of surrounding valleys and rivers.

Trekkers reach the campsite surrounded by alpine landscapes and towering mountain peaks.

Trek Duration: 4–5 hours

Day 3: Lakshmi Van to Chakrateerth

The trail continues deeper into the high-altitude region as trekkers move through rugged glacial terrain. Along the way, trekkers enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Chaukhamba, one of the most prominent peaks in the region.

The campsite at Chakrateerth offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Trek Distance: 8 km

Day 4: Chakrateerth to Satopanth Lake

This is the most exciting day of the trek as the team moves toward the sacred Satopanth Lake. The trail passes through rocky terrain and glacial landscapes before reaching the beautiful triangular lake surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks.

Trekkers spend time exploring the lake and enjoying the peaceful mountain environment.

Maximum Altitude: 15,100 ft

Day 5: Satopanth Lake to Chakrateerth

After experiencing the serene beauty of Satopanth Lake, the group begins the descent back toward Chakrateerth campsite.

The return journey offers different perspectives of the surrounding valleys and mountain scenery.

Day 6: Chakrateerth to Lakshmi Van

Trekkers continue descending through the same scenic trails back toward Lakshmi Van, passing through alpine valleys and rocky terrain.

The campsite provides beautiful views of the surrounding Himalayan landscapes.

Day 7: Return to Badrinath

The final trekking day leads the group back to Badrinath, marking the end of the Satopanth Lake Trek.

Trekkers conclude the journey with unforgettable memories of the sacred lake and breathtaking Himalayan scenery.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to undertake the Satopanth Lake Trek is between May to June and September to October, when the weather remains stable and trekking conditions are favorable.

During these months, trekkers can enjoy clear skies, pleasant trekking weather, and spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
